The Accident

I dont remember what exactly happened. i just remember screaming and the car going off the road. we’re in a ditch and i can hear Andrea crying, mom has Eric in her arms hes screaming too. the cars upside down. im upside down. the belt wont unbuckle, naturally i panic. then i fall on the glass covered roof of the car. theres chocolate milk mixed into the glass, there goes breakfast. for a split second i think of how stupid it is that i thought about the milk when we were just in a car accident.

“who do i call?” i yell to my mom. my mind is drawing a blank is this a 911 situation?, i dont really know how to answer that.

“the police! call 911″ so thats a yes.

“911 whats your emergency?”

“uhh we were just in an accident, we’re on the 126 behing balboa middle school. um the car flipped over its upside down” i cant quite get over that fact.

“okay, someones already called, the police and ambulance are on their way.”

and of course instead of thanking her or even saying ‘bye” i just hang up.

theres a man outside the car now hes talking to Andrea, she seems to be freaking out the most. hes calming her down surprisingly fast. “is anyone bleeding”, he asks

almost on cue i feel something warm trickle down my forehead. i wipe it off with my fingertips, and look at them, sure enough theyre covered with blood. at that point i freak out.

“i am” i say, my voice cracking. the man hands me a kleenex. i wipe my forehead with shaking hands oh God, I’m gonna die. i look at the tissue expecting it to be drenched in blood, its not. Maybe i wont die. now the problem is that theres a huge bump forming on my forehead, that cant be good.

National Day of Writing

The National Day of Writing is coming up, and I have a few ideas of what I may want to write about. Ive been tossing around some ideas for short stories, but i dont really kno what to do with them. Maybe i’ll take some of Natalie Goldbers advice and just write, so it’ll be a writing practice. For someone who doesnt do much of this stuff I think that would be a good step.
